District 83's Calendar
I have included some major calendar events to be aware of, but please visit our district's calendar often to stay up to date!
VISIT US AT WESTDALE'S OPEN HOUSE!
Please come visit room 106 during Westdale's Open House on Thursday, August 30th! Your child wants to show you our classroom and things they have made so far. The students spend so much time at school, it becomes a very important place to them. I would love to meet you and your family, too!

Labor Day
No school on Monday, September 3.
Picture Day
Westdale's picture day is Friday, September 14th. Students are NOT required to wear their uniform. If you would like to purchase pictures, please make sure the form is filled out and returned to school with the required money. Thanks!
Early Release
Wednesday, September 26th will be an early release. Students will be dismissed at noon. If your child is going home a different way than usual, please make sure to send a note to school. Thanks!
Charlotte's Web
We will be going to MMS to view Charlotte's Web on Wednesday, September 3. Students do not need a permission slip since we will be traveling within the district. The play starts at 9:30am and we will be back in time for lunch as usual. Students do need to wear their uniform.
Columbus Day
No school on Monday, October 8.
Delayed Start
Students will start school at 10:30 on Wednesday, October 17th.
Parent Teacher Conferences
When you come to Open House, please be sure to sign up for a Parent Teacher Conference day/time. They will be on the nights of October 23 and 25.

Early Release
Students will be dismissed at noon on Wednesday, October 31. We will have a school-wide Halloween parade and then a classroom celebration from 11-12. Students may wear costumes that are appropriate for school. No weapons or masks, please.
There will be a sign up at Open House to ask for donations of food for the party. Please do not send anything until you have checked with the teacher.
We would love parent volunteers to help with our party. Please let me know if you can join us!

Veteran's Day
No school on Monday, November 12.
Thanksgiving Break
No school on November 21, 22, and 23. We will resume school on Monday, November 26.
Winter Break
No school starting Monday, December 24-Friday, January 4. We will resume school on Monday, January 7.
Delayed Start
Students start at 10:30 on Wednesday, January 9.
Report Cards
Students will take home their report cards on Friday, January 11.
